C.A.N Not Welcomed at HAMILTON: International Day Against Police Brutality Rally

Intro

The Canadian Awareness Network is an organization of activist who work together to produce news reports as alternative media. We are very vocal in local, national and global issues in exposing a lot of aspects of corruption within the system of the globalization control grid. We understand that the first step to change is awareness so we make it our duty to raise that awareness, because there might be someone out there who would ‘do something about it’ but that person may not know.

We also understand that most of the corruption comes from very rich wealthy elitists who are collaborating to control the world but that being said it is very important to focus on local issues because when it comes down to it, you’re backyard is where it matters the most. These elitists have a policing system in place around the world from country to country that are extremely similar to each other in many ways. When the elitists meet they get their police goons with weapons to protect them and control protests such as what was seen at the G8 and G20 protests over the years. The C.A.N covers a lot of police state issues.

From the unlawful coercion fines to the police brutality with no justice, almost every country has these characteristics in their police services. Some more brutal than others and also some not so brutal than others.

It is clear that here in Ontario and in Canada abroad police officers who allegedly commit crimes usually never get charged and if they do get charged they usually beat the charges in court and get them dropped. There are countless examples in Hamilton alone.

Police officers are always exonerated and that is a big problem, because that would mean that civil servants are above the laws they enforce and essentially are not bound by them. Since police officers are extensions of the government that would be a form of police state dictatorship and in fact the dominator behavior that comes with police brutality is encouraged and is a part of some of their training.

We here at the C.A.N have been very much involved in trying to expose corruption within the police services locally and nationally. We try to expose officers names involved in ‘excessive’ lethal force situations when the mainstream media won’t. We expose the corruption going on at the Special Investigations Unit and have helped Norm Dorr try to prove discrepancies in one of their reports. In the whole history of the S.I.U we are the first to produce a video proving discrepancies in an S.I.U report.

The C.A.N attends police board meetings to do real journalism to keep watch on the perpetuation of the global police state coming through locally.

Fill The Room Full of People for Hamilton Police Board Meetings!

It all started with just three people on August 12th 2013, when Warrand Francis, Sharon Dorr and I attended the Hamilton Police Board Meeting. This is the day that I confronted Chief Glenn De Caire about Steve Mesic’s death questioning De Caire what’s he going to to do with the police that mishandled the situation and Warrand Francis asked the Chief to resign. Because of this publicity stunt the mainstream media was forced to report on the happenings. Our videos of the event were made mention of on the front page of the Hamilton Spectator. Not too long after the confrontation with De Caire, surprisingly he announced his retirement for the end of 2014.

Word got out of what we did and with the encouragement of Sharon Dorr the people that knew Steve quickly wanted to become involved in trying to get justice for him, a long with other concerned citizens, who attended the following police board meeting which was held on Sept 16th/13. On that date so many people showed up that there was not enough room for everyone, including the officers. The local people showed power by not leaving the meeting when asked to by Mayor Bob Bratina, which actually made the board members decide to move future meetings to city hall to be able accommodate people for seats.

All because of the public pressure De Caire ended up apologizing to the Dorr/Mesic family 3 months too late about Steve Mesic being shot. Mayor Bob Bratina didn’t like that because he wanted to apologize when it first happened but De Caire instructed him not to, so after De Caire apologized the Mayor got real upset and resigned from the Hamilton Police Board. The Mayor hung De Caire to dry out, the window has been left open for the people to now get on De Caire and pressure him into resigning sooner than end of 2014.

That all being said clearly the C.A.N has made major actions to try to implement change in the police services in Hamilton. We have been slandered by mainstream media many times over the years, being called conspiracy theorist and anti-police. Let’s get one thing straight, we are NOT anti-police. We are anti-police brutality and pro justice for everyone to be treated equally under the law regardless of their employment status.

We understand that there are good cops out there so we don’t just write negative stories about police, we do also write positive ones when we hear about them or experience them. But unfortunately even the good cops enforce unjust laws so we try to raise awareness on the difference between just and unjust laws in hopes that the police officers begin to understand and try to change the police services from within.

International Day Against Police Brutality in Hamilton

Police flier

The flier above was posted all around downtown Hamilton. The crew and I hit the protest up so we can observe and do a report on the event since it adheres to our viewers and us. As a journalist I went into the crowd with my smart phone and was intending on using the audio recorder app to interview some protesters in the crowd. My intentions were to ask protesters if they had any solutions to police brutality, and I was also handing out fliers to encourage people to come out to police board meetings with Warrand.

Lucas and I quickly got confronted by one of the protesters and then was being watched by several others as we conversed with the one. The protester told us we are not welcomed in the demo and told us to leave. The reason for this is because in June 2012 we attended Hamilton Casserole which was a protest against a raise in college tuition fees. We were trying to raise awareness of the root cause of usury and how the Bank of Canada when it was used properly in the past gave interest free tuition loans to Canadians before 1974. Video can be viewed below:

Before that we exposed the Occupy Wallstreet movement being linked to George Soros, so some could hate us because of that but basically ever since the Casserole protest these group of protesters extremely dislike the C.A.N and have gone a little delusional as to who we are and what we stand for.

I was then slandered and called a snitch and a collaborator with police. A truly ignorant statement to say none the less. We write articles and produce videos on the police state locally, nationally and globally and if one takes the time to read past articles and watch videos they would see we get a lot of negative criticism from police officers in the comment sections. So to say we are collaborators with police is completely absurd!

After trying to explain myself to the protester with details outlined in this article, another female protester approached me and said to me, “shut your f***in’ face, you talk too much, try shutting your f***in’ face for a full day and listen.” I don’t even know who this person is and have no idea why she was so rude.

The original protester who I was conversing with would not talk to Lucas but would only talk to me. He then tried explaining to me the reason why I’m a snitch is because I try to de-mask or denounce people at protests. On June 14th 2013 there was a police rally that I attended and people were wearing masks. I got nothing against people wearing masks, if one wants to remain anonymous I support that right. But as a reporter I went to that event to cover it and all I did is ‘ask’ people why they are wearing a mask. I guess this protester has problem with me asking people questions and interacting with them. How is that de-masking or denouncing someone just for asking them a question? Is this a by-product of collectivist mentality?

Clearly this protester is the ‘conspiracy theorist’ theorizing that C.A.N is conspiring with police officers. It is quiet laughable to us, our followers and also to the police that dislike the C.A.N.

That protester thought I posted the video of that negative interaction that I had, too bad he didn’t actually watch the video that I produced of that day because it was nothing but positivity and included a message from me to them to put our differences aside. Here’s the video coverage of that day and my message:

This protester says things have escalated between the C.A.N and them. All of this over a video from 2 years ago at Casserole protest. Things have only escalated in their minds when in reality we have done nothing to them. We do true journalism and real activism to implement change. We have not slandered them or spoken negatively about them ever, all we’ve ever done is try to expose the truth, expose the lies, to raise awareness on important issues, point out root causes of the problems and try to offer solutions to those problems.

I’ll give it to them that they are creative in getting people’s attentions with the march and playing the music but they are not following through with raising awareness. To most of them I feel like it’s only a social event for them to attend.

They have no solutions to end police brutality nor do they try to perpetuate change by attending police board meetings and interacting with the police to express how they feel. It is not in the mentality of the protesters who hate C.A.N. It truly is a sad drama situation where the masses are divided amongst each other.

Some protesters near the end of the protest were advocating violence against the police. In the video below if you listen closely you hear a man tell the officers that if the officers don’t change one day the people are going to get violent and that ‘there will be a day when the people will shoot them up’. This is insanity! As Terry puts it, Anti Police Protestors Help Usher In The Police State.. These types of actions and words justify the police state that the elitists are trying to usher in and imagine what those words would do the officers mentality of the public.

Surprisingly the Hamilton Police didn’t act too bad. Tons of protesters were wearing masks and the police did not enforce the unjust antimask laws that are in force nationally.

Lucas was a student at Mohawk College who attended the Casserole protest which was a protest against rising tuition fees. He was raising awareness how the Bank of Canada before 1974 used to give interest free loans to students attending college or university. Yes we went a little over board but apologize have been mad… that happened two years ago. The only people dividing themselves from us is you. I’ve made countless attempts to put things behind us, and find some common grounds to collaborate on but you people can’t seem to let go of a grudge.

It is a public protest,I can videotape the protest just like the rest of the protesters, but somehow I’m endangering people for doing it? Do you know how stupid that sounds to me?

You’re just slandering us with your opinions with no proof to back it up. In the article I explained what my intentions were and no offence but you guys are not making any change, at least my crew is and Ihave proof to back it up, all the proof is in this article, which I doubt you even read it’s entirety.

White male privledge ? What are you talking about? I had white boys be racist to me growing up calling me paki and other racial slurs. I grew up in apartments my whole life in deep poverty. My parents fled from a communist country to come to Canada to have more freedom, and here you upperclass folk are trying to bring in communism because it was taught to you in college.

Quiet frankly you’re pretty ignorant and arrogant. You guys have the problems, not us.

For me to simply ask questions does not mean I am trying to demask anyone or cuz harm to anyone but unfortunately you guys seem to have something wrong with the way you think and look at things.

  2. I don’t see how asking questions is disrespectful Lara. It’s a journalist job to ask questions. What does being a white male have to do with ANYTHING???

  3. Let me get this straight.

You attend demonstrations and don’t respect the tone of them, as set by organizers. You attempt to hijack the messaging of them, as set by organizers (a message that, if you don’t agree with, you can choose not to attend). And then you become confrontational with individuals who are trying to protect their identity (because WHY else would anyone wear a mask?) and get angry when they either a) won’t engage with you or b)tell you to leave them alone.

And you wonder why you aren’t welcome?

If I came to something you organized, disrespected the one and hijacked the message you’d be seriously pissed off too and ask me to leave.

    A couple other notes.

    1) Get your facts straight. The anti-mask law only applies where demonstrations have been declared unlawful. Stop spreading bullshit fear/propaganda, which leads me to:

    2) You don’t have to be a police officer to police people. You don’t have to be a police officer to threaten the safety or security of a situation or individual. If you film indiscriminately you risk other people, whether you intend to or not. Additionally your rather (white male) privileged attitude encourages the divides police try to instill!

By refusing to accept that there are other means of struggle and resistance, and by stating that anything than what you find “appropriate” or “acceptable” is illegitimate you are doing the police’s work. You are dividing people and community, rendering it less effective, instead of finding common ground and goals with others and creating effective change. It’s individuals and attitudes like your own that undermines movements, and your attitude preventing unity.

Hope you can get over your privilege, read these words for truth and manage to work towards community, instead of catering to police will.

  4. If these A-holes have such a huge problem with you, you must be doing something right! Keep up the good work. Try not to get thrown under any horses.

    Fascists love ineffective protests:

    Frankie,
Nice work so far from what I have seen.
Are you and the group teaching people
the basics of law which can be written on
    one page?
I would be interested in learning more about
you and the group as I live in Hamilton.
If needed I can give lectures regarding law.

Once again the fake activists or paid protesters of the left think they own and control all protest on the streets. People have to realize that there is an element in the protest movement who are in fact only looking to manipulate the public into a colour revolution to push their own leftist (communist) agenda. We cannot allow these professional protesters, these fake occupy facilitators to control the message.
