Olivia Chow Joins Toronto Mayoral Race

Olivia Chow resigned her seat in Parliament on Wednesday, and today has announced that she joined the 2014 mayoral race for the city of Toronto.

Chow is joining a mayoral race that now includes 35 candidates. With some bigger names being current mayor Rob Ford, former Ontario Progressive Conservative Party leader John Tory, and former Toronto Transit Commission chair Karen Stintz.

She has already started to show what her campaign will entail. She has stated ““We deserve better. It’s time for change.”

Hasn’t the whole “change” mantra lost its luster for politicians yet?

Today she also made comments about the current mayor Rob Ford.

“The current mayor’s disappointing leadership has let us down over and over again”

“The current mayor is failing at his job…And he is no role model for my granddaughters”

If Chow is looking to politicians as “role models” for her grandchildren, I really think that she needs to reevaluate a few things in her family life. Ford has made some mistakes in his personal life that have landing him in the spotlight. But if you can point me in the direction of a politician who has a squeaky clean past. I would be willing to pay you!

Ford may have some alcohol and drug issues, but want kind of issues does Chow have in her closet?

Lets go back to the year 2000. This Canadian Free Press article titled: Cop basher Olivia Chow. Gives a little insight into her past activities.

” It seems now that the smoke from the Queen’s Park riot has cleared, Olivia Chow was doing more than whispering words of wisdom to Toronto Star columnists.

‘We have received information from our members that Olivia Chow interfered with police activity and overstepped her authority as a member of the police services board,’ state the Toronto Police Association in a news release.

‘We are asking the Chief of Police to have Olivia Chow investigated for criminal acts, including Breach of Trust, Obstruct Police, as well as breaches under the Police Services Act.’

‘Based on the substantive information received, the Board of Directors of the Association demands that Olivia Chow immediately resign from the police services board.’

The hypocrisy of politicians and activists getting publicity on the backs of the homeless is one thing, but Chow’s anti-police conduct in connection with the Queen’s Park riot is unprecedented. Royson James’ ‘diminutive’ councillor, afterall, is a member of the police services board.

In a city represented by 57 municipal councillors, the most hideous hypocrisy of all is that cop basher Olivia Chow was ever provided a presence on our police services board.”

While being a member of the Toronto police service board, she was out in the streets taking part in anti police riots.

Here you can see Chow in a photo from Occupy Toronto. Notice the Anarcho-Communist flags in the background.

Here is another perspective about Chow from a Toronto based journalist.

“My introduction to the fact that Chow was hardly, as they say on the back concessions, the sharpest knife in the drawer, came one morning when a Metro Morning producer phoned just before 8 a.m. to plead with me to debate Chow at 8.30 a.m. on some issue dear to the heart of NDP councillors but of little interest to a conservative columnist.
I had done a weekly radio commentary for the CBC for more than a decade but had been shoved into the penalty box for being nasty about some left-wing idol. So I agreed to participate, thinking that the CBC would thaw about me as a regular paid talker.
I cleaned her clock. I even felt sorry because she was so inept in making her case when she should have had every fact memorized. Maybe I was too successful because the program never called me again but kept Chow as a reliable manure-spreader of socialist propaganda. She has always made a comfortable living as a political animal who has never seen a left-wing cause she doesn’t want us to fund.”

Chow has stated that her campaign will focus on Toronto families, children, jobs and transit issues. The transit issues meaning Metrolinx issues.

Chow has been a very vocal supporter of Metrolinx and their plans for LRT’s in the GTA. In her time as an MP she was the NDP’s transportation critic and has been pushing a national transit strategy private member’s bill for over a year. The transit strategy (much like the Metrolinx plan) is rooted in sustainable development, being pushed at an international level by the United Nations.

When asked about tax increases to pay for these programs, she declined comment. Who wants to talk about more taxation to pay for their plans?

She is clearly as “left” leaning as a politician can get! More taxes, more debt, bigger government, the aiding/silent support of radical groups, and more socialism!

More of the same Canadian politics that we are all used to. Sounds about right for the political change mantra that I mentioned earlier!

The only reason why she has a name is because of who she was married to that’s the reason why she’s in the MP’s before her name is based on what she was and who she was with it’s a shame that all she wants to do is ride on other peoples name I never heard of her just the X king of the NDP
