Health Unit Applauds Raw Milk Decision

After the Ontario Court of Appeal shot down farmer Michael Schmidt’s appeal on raw milk convictions. The local health unit is applauding the decision.

““I’m really pleased that the court has upheld the HPPA (Health Protection and Promotion Act) and continues to help us in our effort to provide safe milk to people,” Dr. Hazel Lynn said in an interview after reading the court’s decision released Tuesday.

She noted Justice Robert J. Sharpe ruled raw milk can be a health hazard, he didn’t feel the cow-share scheme changed the fact the raw milk was unsafe, and limits on lifestyle choices to drink raw milk are not a Charter of Rights and Freedoms problem, despite Schmidt’s arguments.

It’s not illegal to consume unpasteurized milk and someone may consume it from his or her own cow. Schmidt’s cow-share scheme purports to sell milk to people who own the cows but the court didn’t buy it. Distribution and sale of it is prohibited by the HPPA.

In March 2013, Schmidt entered into an agreement with the Grey Bruce Health Unit not to sell raw milk products at his farm store and to notify the health unit if he resumes doing so.”

It is laughable how the above, main stream article labels the cow share program a scheme. Cow shares are when consenting adults purchase cows and sell the raw milk amongst each other. What a scheme eh?

Lets take a look at some facts about raw milk.

According to American statistics from the CDC, an average of 5,000 people die from food born illnesses and 24,000 food born illnesses are reported each year (pasteurized dairy products account for 1.3% of foodborne illnesses). There has not been a case of raw milk causing a fatality since the 1980′s (even that case was questionable), despite an estimated 10 million Americans consuming it on a regular basis.

Peanuts and eggs are more dangerous than raw milk, according to those figures. Are they banned from being sold?

Lets also take a look at some programs that the health unit supports.

Dr. Hazel Lynn and the health unit fully support flu vaccines. Annual flu vaccinations have been estimated to only be 56 percent effective and cause severe side effect. As shown below.

I could literally go on and on about the different medical and health programs supported by the health unit that have more side effects than drinking raw milk.

This is a perfect example of our “health care system” and state hypocrisy. They want to force and coerce us into programs that can be dangerous. But pass laws that restrict our access to natural foods that educated and informed people want to consume. How can people who live in the city obtain raw milk legally? If a farmer is not allowed to even share it with you, never mind sell it to you.

We need to get the state out of our own personal health decisions!
