Second Military Exercise In Niagara

More soldiers are coming to Niagara.

100 soldiers from the Queen’s York Rangers, a Canadian Army Reserve unit, will be training in Niagara on September 13th, as part of Exercise Rusty Hatchet.

The public should expect to see military vehicles and soldiers, particularly in the Grimsby area.

The soldiers are participating in an escape and evasion exercise, simulating troops caught behind enemy lines and trying to avoid capture.

Members of the public are asked not to obstruct their tactical training activities, but may call in to report their presence.

Officials say exercises such as Rusty Hatchet are an important way to hone critical skills and be prepared to assist Canadians when and where military help is needed.
