Biometric Company Awarded Contract To Protect One Of The Worlds Largest Economies From Terrorists
There was quite a buzz last year when Apple released the iPhone 5′s that use fingerprint scanning technology to unlock the phone. Of course this was only a first step of smart phones adapting biometric technologies and we could be seeing the second step from a company named Daon.
Daon has developed their “universal” mobile biometric authentication technology called IdentityX. Below is a brief video with a Daon representative explaining the system.
The technology merges older things like password protections with new age biometric technologies such as facial and voice recognition, and iris scanning. Read more about IdentityX at: identityx.com
While doing some research into the company and their technology last night, I noticed that the company and their technology had made the headlines of several Tech websites.

The three links, mainly say the same thing. That Daon has been hired to provide a scalable and flexible COTS-based solution. Client side apps will be independently developed with Daon SDKs. The system is set to “go-live” at over 30 locations across the country in the next six months. (mainly at border and cross border areas).
The major economy/country, is being kept secret. All that is being said is that it is one of the worlds top economies. A good speculation of which economy is employing the software is North America.
Daon software supports U.S. Registered Traveler airports and the Nexus trusted traveler programs. Both of which can partially fall under the Beyond the Border Action Plan, signed by Canada and the U.S.
Regardless of which economy is employing the biometric platforms. We all know that it is only a matter of time before this tech is everywhere! And we should all be very wary about these types of systems, especially after all of the spying revelations that have come to light in the past year. Unless of course those terrorist boogeymen are so utterly frightening that you feel it is necessary to submit this type of information to your ever so trusted government.
