Ontario Ministry Of Education Adds 3 Vaccines To Schedule And Plans To Number Students

Yesterday my daughter brought a letter from her school home, that informed me that as of July 1, 2014 the Ontario Immunization of School Pupils Act was changing.

The school sent this letter because I declined the voluntary Meningococcal vaccine for my daughter and the act was being changed to include this vaccine to the so called mandatory school schedule. When I looked up the act, I quickly noticed that this is not the only change being made.

“On September 19, the Ministry of Education announced recent amendments made to Ontario Regulation 645 under the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA). The changes will support the exchange of consistent student information between schools/school boards and public health units. Another change is the identification of a new data element: the Ontario Education Number (OEN). Medical health officers will use the OEN to more accurately match immunization records to student records. Amendments also include the addition of 3 new designated diseases requiring proof of immunization for school attendance beginning July 1, 2014 (meningococcal diseases, pertussis and varicella.) Changes also support rollout of a new immunization information repository called the Panorama system.”

The Ontario Education Number (OEN) is described as: “The OEN will make it easier to keep reliable records on the movement and progress of individual students through elementary and secondary school, while also protecting their privacy. In addition, it will greatly facilitate the collection and analysis of accurate and timely data about education in Ontario. In fact, assigning an OEN to students across Ontario is the first step in implementing a new data-gathering and -management system that will benefit everyone in Ontario who has an interest in education.”

The Ontario school board is numbering our children as if they where in prison. This is the exact same system that they use in jails/prisons in the province!

Schools and school officials will always try to make it seem like these vaccines are mandatory, but in reality they are not. There is no law stating that they are mandatory for school attendance.

I am not going to give anyone medical advise, I am no where near being qualified to do so. But if you have made your own health decision to not have your child vaccinated (for any of the vaccines on the schedule). A vaccine exemption form for Ontario can be found HERE.
