I have not tried this out yet, but will be today and hopefully it works!

NOTICE OF NO CONSENT TO TRESPASS AND SURVEILLANCE, NOTICE OF LIABILITY
Dear (Energy Provider) and all agents, officers, employees, contractors and interested parties,
If you intend to install a “Smart Meter” or any activity monitoring device at the above address, you and all other parties are hereby denied consent for installation and use of all such device on the above property and installation and use of any activity monitoring device is hereby refused and prohibited. Informed consent is legally required for installation of any surveillance device and any device that will collect and transmit private and personal data to undisclosed and unauthorized parties for undisclosed and unauthorized purposes. Authorization for sharing of personal and private information may only be given by the originator and subject of that information. That authorization is hereby denied and refused with regard to the above property and all its occupants. “Smart Meters” violate the law and cause endangerment to residents by the following factors:
1. They individually identify electrical devices inside the home and record when they are operated causing invasion of privacy.
2. They monitor household activity and occupancy in violation of rights and domestic security.
3. They transmit wireless signals which may be intercepted by unauthorized and unknown parties. Those signals can be used to monitor behavior and occupancy and they can be used by criminals to aid criminal activity against the occupants.
4. Data about occupant’s daily habits and activities are collected, recorded and stored in permanent databases which are accessed by parties not authorized or invited to know and share that private data.
5. Those with access to the smart meter databases can review a permanent history of household activities complete with calendar and time-of-day metrics to gain a highly invasive and detailed view of the lives of the occupants.
6. Those databases may be shared with, or fall into the hands of criminals, blackmailers, law enforcement, private hackers of wireless transmissions, power company employees, and other unidentified parties who may act against the interests of the occupants under metered surveillance.
7. “Smart Meters” are, by definition, surveillance devices which violate Federal and State wiretapping laws by recording and storing databases of private and personal activities and behaviors without the consent or knowledge of those people who are monitored.
8. It is possible for example, with analysis of certain “Smart Meter” data, for unauthorized and distant parties to determine medical conditions, sexual activities, physical locations of persons within the home, vacancy patterns and personal information and habits of the occupants.
9. Your company has not adequately disclosed the particular recording and transmission capabilities of the smart meter, or the extent of the data that will be recorded, stored and shared, or the purposes to which the data will and will not be put.
I forbid, refuse and deny consent of any installation and use of any monitoring, eavesdropping, and surveillance devices on my property, my place of residence and my place of occupancy. That applies to and includes “Smart Meters” and activity monitoring devices of any and all kinds. Any attempt to install any such device directed at me, other inhabitants, guests, my property or residence will constitute trespass, stalking, wiretapping and unlawful surveillance, all prohibited and punishable by law through criminal and civil complaints. All persons, government agencies and private organizations responsible for installing or operating monitoring devices directed at or recording my activities, which I have not specifically authorized in writing, will be fully liable for any violations, intrusions, harm or negative consequences caused or made possible by those devices whether those negative consequences are justified by “law” or not..
This is legal notice. After this delivery the liabilities listed above may not be denied or avoided by parties named and implied in this notice.
Notice to principal is notice to agent and notice to agent is notice to principal. All rights reserved.

THIS IS A CRIME : Want to help stop neighbors from not oitnpg out of the smart meter? Create awareness! Deborah has flyers and signs! It’s important to get all of your neighbors to opt out as well! The RF signal travels roughly 1000 feet from the meter, so we suggest that you get everyone within 1000 feet of your home to opt out as well. 0 0
Great video . it Great video . it answered the queoitsn I had after seeing Episode 1. Hmmm, what queoitsn will be answered in #3? Thank you and what’s everyone complaining about the music? I didn’t even notice it which is how it should be, I guess.
Bill come on man, do some research.
You can’t be that stupid as to lobby FOR smart meters.
That’s just not smart.
We should all be concerned about the intrusion and the unsafe technology… but many DON’T QUESTION ANYTHING .. that’s too bad .. they have no Smart meters in NB yet but they did their SMART summit a little while back so I am sure they going to be ‘coming in like a military operation’ when the PTB deem it so.. but just for fun.. they’ve lined Bill Gates’ pockets again by pushing real hard with SMARTboards in the schools here.. along with a weekly sodium fluoride rinse for the kids.. open wide and say ‘yum’ … while we zap your poor young bodies into cancer clusters.. oy vay!
Please delete my last name.
the smart grid is the corporate pychopath big brothers dream come true. Full control over power means charging us whatever they want whenever they want, if you can’t pay the extortion rates, they can cut you off remotely. It will look like everyone has a grow op, so there will be massive home searches to either find pot or fine you for not having your house in power smart condition including old ineffecient appliances, then you will be forced to get the new smart technology RFID chip appliances or live without. All the while your heath suffers from increased wifi, and big pharma has the answer for that.
Thanks for any other informative site. The place else may I am getting that kind of info written in such a perfect way? I’ve a project that I am just now operating on, and I have been at the glance out for such info.
Definitely imagine that which you said. Your favourite justification appeared to be on the internet the simplest factor to take note of. I say to you, I definitely get irked even as folks think about issues that they just do not understand about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest as well as outlined out the entire thing without having side effect , folks could take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. Thank you
We’re a group of volunteers and opening a new scheme in our community. Your web site provided us with helpful information to work on. You have performed a formidable job and our entire community might be grateful to you.
Very helpful post man, thanks for the info.
Lynn,
As the homeowner you are entitled to decide what amperage comes into your home, what appliances to use and how much power to use, it should also be your right to decide which meter to use. The old ones are just fine, if there was a problem with them or a health threat, or they didn’t work correctly………they would have been replaced years ago…and instantly. This is about more knowledge, control and someones cousin owns the factory that makes these things and is making a fortune by changing them.
Wake Up.
Bil you are an idiot.
Your way of thinking leads to warrantless surveillance and governments that water-board.
the ‘If you aren’t hiding anything’ approach to life just doesn’t work any more. QUESTION EVERYTHING
Not to mention that “smart meters” emit damgerous EMF waves.
i have friends in the states on these already.
so they have a variable rate now.
use your power at x-times you get charged more money.
on old meters can’t do that.
also with it being RF, they don’t have to have ppl go onto your yard to get the info. they still have to come by and point a device at the house and get the data. or its in a receiver in the car and just picks it up as they drive.
this also saves hydro company money. instead of paying ppl to have to walk from house to house and read ppls meters. is funny cause in manitoba i had to call it in. other than the fact that ppl have dogs and can get ppl hurt that way.
i happened to work for a company that received an letter about the job and installation. costs etc. in bc they expect to break even in the cost of installing the meters within a few years. due to ppl stealing power. its over 110 Million dollars worth of power that is missing a year currently and its been growing for the last decade
What about the numerous proven ill health concerns caused by smart meter wireless technology? For all those non paranoid, law abiding citizens…think about your well being, think about your children’s well being. There is no way to ‘go off the grid’ in a lot of places……such as anywhere in B.C. under the Agricultural Land Reserve Rules. They have over-riding control of everyone on the ALR lands. I personally had it out with them over this issue. They told me I was not allowed to run power to an ancillary building on my 10 acres from the B.C. Hydro pole. I told them to jam it as I would simply power up with a generator when I needed power to this shop. Their response? If in fact I did that…they would cut all Hydro to the property……and after 30 days of me using a generator they would then forcibly remove all occupants on the property under the public health act.
Hows that for Big Brother Mr ‘Shut up and stop whining’?
One more thing……….
To those of you that live by the ‘If you aren’t doing anything wrong’ ideal……….you are dead wrong.
Americans have less individual rights now (since 911) than the Cuban people. That is because nobody opposed the governments privacy changes in the name of ‘security’ it wasn’t security they wanted (and took) it was and is Control…of every aspect of your lives.
Ask anyone of the Jewish persuasion about leaving it up to the Government and greedy corporations to keep them safe and secure……
If these new meters were actually any better than the old…..they would have been installed years ago. The old meters are working just fine…..obviously.
So there is one of three reasons to change them now.
It’s to their advantage in some way…like selling the info ….to big business
Or…..Big Brother has decided it has to be done so they can aquire yet more control (like the crtc and Canadian Government wiping out ‘through the air’ broadcasting so they can control the spread of news and information by not broadcasting it)
Or….Big Business has kicked back enough grease money to the Government and electric companies that they have mandated the change……….imagine the BILLIONS of dollars made in the changing of these…..
Slightly out to lunch….
- Smart Meter information is encrypted by a security protocol provided by Research In Motion (the same company that is being harassed for providing consumers TOO MUCH privacy).
- Wireless signals are encrypted and are useless for monitoring activity with in the home (there is NO correlation between network traffic and a persons presence in the home).
- Smart Meters only connect to specific devices in the home authorilzed by the utility (which in Texas requires the Authorization of the Home Owner… which is the model most utilities will follow); this is much more secure than the WiFi networks being installed in your home by your internet provider.
- Smart Meters record the same information CURRENTLY RECORDED BY EXISTING METERS… you know, the existing electrical meters ANYONE can CURRENTLY read just by walking up to it…
- Smart Meters can transmit data to the Utility (the BIG change and reason for doing all of this). The utilities already have access to that data (via the existing mechanical meters) which is then used for BILLING purposes. How that data is secured is an issue… that issue exists with or with out Smart Meters….
Simply put: dont use Smart Meters as an EXCUSE to bash companies you dont like. If you really dont like the Utilities having information about you, then go off the grid.
He makes a good point and the typically sheepish replies are instructive.
Notice how the ads on this or other pages agree with or relate to some of your recent surfing or even e-mail topics? That’s no accident. Brave New World, we’re already here.
Anybody can read your meter now by walking up to the side of your house. As for knowing when you use a drill or the fridge, the meter can only record basic consumption. Even if it could (it can’t) your tools and applicances would have to send out a signal saying “I’m a drill”. By this paranoids rants, your cordless drill would have a logging feature in the battery so that it could report out when you charged it. Must be a better drill than my cheap one.
As for data logging, Hydro already has your information on a computer system under the manual read meters….it’s how your bill is created. You can request the data but only you can get it. BC has some of the toughest freedom of information legislation so nothing is shared to outside parties. If your wife isn’t on the account, she can’t even call in to get your balance.
When you see the results of a fire caused by high consumption of power for various reasons (incl marijuana and legitimate faults), when you have to step over the ashes of a deceased child in an investigation due to fire caused by an overloaded system, I can easily live with smart meters, I think the benefits far outweigh the paranoid or perceived surveillance.
I don’t have a problem with the smart meter concept, but if anyone else does, I agree they have the right to decline and prohibit their installation and use.
Terry’s concerns with smart meters are absolutely valid.
The “smart” meter plays a part in “smart grid” and the biggest invasion of privacy will be through individual “smart” appliances that communicate with the grid through the meter.
Ostensibly, this is to allow utilities to more closely monitor power consumption and predict demand peaks. However, as Terry points out, this will also create a realtime database of what appliance you use, when you use it, and for how long.
It is not a stretch of the imagination to see this data being “mined”, legally or otherwise.
Perhaps you have noticed a system called Google “analytics” at work on the internet. You do a web search for detergent, and when you visit another website, ads for detergent “coinicidentally” appear in the side bar.
With smart grid, don’t be surprised if one day you are using your power saw and a Home Depot ad appears on the TV.
The possibilities (and advertisers thirst for marketing) are endless.
The only place smart metres should be located are on medium to large businesses, as the real reason for installing them is to create another revenue stream from the small taxpayer.
Nearly all legislation today is introduced to “help” businesses: two very good examples being the GST and the HST, both were created to make up for the loss of revenue from preceding pieces of legislation that assisted business.
We, as the real underwriters of the country’s infrastructure and services should be demanding more public accountability of what corporations actually pay toward the services we are supplying to them.
As it is now, corporations in Canada pay less toward our system that at any time in the countries history. At a time when our infrasture: our roads, bridges, public buildings and lands, and much more are beginning to decay for lack of care, hugely profitable businesses are paying pittance toward our communal properties.
We need to treat thieves and “users” as just that. Take back your country, and start holding your representation to account for what really matters, not for jets, bigger prisons and bigger pensions for already wealthy politicians, but hold them to maintain our strong and much wanted medical system, build back our failing education system (which is why they want more prisons) to what is use to be, and look to an agenda that nurtures, not berates the public for being in need. A need, business and their bought and paid for MP’s have and are, creating on a daily basis.
Smart Metres, they start in your brain, so “turn em on”!
You people are way to hard on Terry. He is entitled to his beliefs and his position. That is the joy of living in a free society. If Terry lived in America I suspect he would own a lot of guns…..thank goodness Terry is Canadian. Just like the people who do not want to have their rights “violated” to get on an aircraft, they are free to exercise their right to stay on the ground. Same thing applies to Terry. If he does not like the way that the utility gathers information to sell electrical energy, he is free to go out and buy a generator.
Anyone that doesn’t hate floride needs to wake up!
That industrial waste is a poison to our bodies!
Right on Donna – if I’m not doing anything dishonest, who really cares!
This person goes on and on about the things that he or she “thinks” the smart meter can do, then ends on this point:
“Your company has not adequately disclosed the particular recording and transmission capabilities of the smart meter, or the extent of the data that will be recorded, stored and shared, or the purposes to which the data will and will not be put.”
Either you know or you don’t know. Don’t put your suspicions in the same list as your lack of knowledge. It makes you look pretty silly.
This is poster is all bullshit. The smart meter can’t do 99% of what this paranoid propagandist says it can. Go to a shrink and get some meds!
This sounds a little paranoid to me. If someone wants to know when I wash clothes or cook supper have at it. There are already a number of ways to track someone’s activity – swiping debit or credit cards, using telephones, cell phones, turning on your computer….. If I can save a few dollars because I use electricity on “off-hours” then I’m okay with that.
As a law abiding citizen are you ok with being guilty until proven innocent?
As a law abiding citizen is it ok to continue giving up our freedoms for a chance to catch a few more criminals? (even though according to the hydro companies websites that I have visited there is no mention of reducing criminal activity)
Or is it ok to have your info collected and sold to the highest bidder?
Hate fluoride? That wonder drug (toxic waste) that does not even need sound science behind it, before it is forced on the masses.. Who could ever hate that??
Hes worried about Freedom???
And he has time to protest a Smart Meter.
All his complaints like “know if you have a grow op” or “if you are stealing electricity”…. As a law abiding citizen I consider it an obligation to lobby FOR the Smart Meter.
They will know when I brush my teeth????
I bet he hates fluoride too.
